Fire Drill Thursday, Oct. 14 (weather permitting)

Hello Tiffany Hills Families,

Each year under the direction of the Fire Marshall, schools complete 3 fire drills in the fall and 3 fire drills in the spring.

This fall with Covid19 protocols in place, we will schedule specific classes out at different times to ensure distancing. However, should a fire actually occur, all classes will exit the school upon activation of the fire alarm.

The second fire drill will occur on: Thursday, Oct. 14th, weather permitting, rain date is Friday, Oct. 15th.

A third drill will be a surprise drill the week of Oct. 18th.

Staff have reviewed fire exits and the following procedures with students these past weeks.

¨ Individual classrooms will evacuate in a manner that ensures physical distancing and the wearing of masks (as required) is maintained in accordance with public health guidance.

¨ Teacher practices duties assigned under the Fire Safety Plan (e.g. closing windows and doors). The teacher leads students out; the last student out closes the classroom door.

¨ Individual classes or cohorts practice evacuation procedures by walking the primary and secondary exit routes while maintaining physical distancing, single file, without talking.

¨ Once the class has safely evacuated from the building, students walk to assigned meeting areas, while physically distancing and wearing masks (as required). There must be 2 metres of space between rows on the field. Students are reminded that there is no talking during a drill.

Staff and students will wait for direction to return to class, one class follows the other into the building, students must stay silent until they reach their class.

¨ Once the students and teachers have returned to the classroom, everyone is to sanitize their hands.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact your child’s teacher.
