Updates from Tiffany Hills – Monday March 25, 2019

It has been a busy return from March break around the school.  Students are happy to be able to be outside again, and it is wonderful to see the sun!  Our field is quite muddy at this time of year, and there are days when activity is limited to the paved areas of the playground; however, the fresh air and time to socialize with friends is always a benefit.

Parking and student pick-up/drop-off times continue to be a challenge at our school.  Parents are reminded to follow all signage and follow the rules and expectations of the road and parking areas in and around the school.  Do not leave your car unattended in the kiss & ride area, and do not stop or park for any amount of time in fire zones, or laneways.  Please also ensure that you are only permitted cars park in handicapped parking spots.  Following these rules is an absolute necessity to keeping our students safe.  In addition, please do not park in the round-abouts or within 3 metres of a school entrance or street corner.  While parking is limited, it is safer to park a distance away and walk to pick up your child if necessary.  Students are encouraged to take the school bus, walk to school where possible and appropriate, or ride their bikes to and from school each day.  As the spring weather warms, we hope to see less automobile traffic in the school area during entry and dismissal times.  Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students safe.

Grade 8 Graduation: Plans are underway for our Grade 8 Graduation and Celebration.  Information letters will be coming home soon.  The date of our celebration will be Thursday June 20, 2019 at 5:00 PM for parents and family members of our Grade 8 Graduates.

Down Syndrome Awareness Day was March 21 and Tiffany Hills was a sea of colourful socks to promote this important campaign.  Thank you to Mrs. Benner for leading us in this spirit and for reminding us about the upcoming World Autism Awareness Day on April 2nd.  Students and staff are encouraged to wear blue in support of this awareness day.  It’s a perfect day to dawn your blue Tiffany Hills t-shirts!!

Gauss Math Test:  Mr. McLellan and myself are looking forward to many of our middle school students participating in the annual Gauss Math Test.  This is an optional test for students who love a Mathematical challenge!  Good luck to all participants.
