School Reorganization Update

Dear Parents/Guardians:

RE: Class Reorganization

Each fall, HWDSB reviews elementary student enrolment in schools, and reorganizes staffing if actual enrolment differs from spring projections. It is normal for student enrolment to fluctuate a little.

This year, the fall reorganization is more widespread due to the in-person/remote option for students, as well as the ongoing need to meet provincial class size requirements. In addition, we have experienced an overall growth in elementary enrolment across the school board.

Specifically, at our school, the reorganization will mean:

• Our overall staffing remains unchanged, but we will be required to create new school organization
• Collapsing 1/2A (Stevens), 3B (Cole), 4B (Miller), 5A (Engelage) and 6/7A (Coddington)
• Creating a new straight 2 (Stevens), a new straight 7 (Coddington)
• Creating new combined classes 2/3A (O’Connor), 3/4A (Miller), 4/5A (Cole) and 5/6A (Engelage)

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.

As always, our team of dedicated educators will work with you to ensure your child is well supported and experiences educational success.  Those students who are affected will receive a letter by September 30th indicating their new classroom.  Students will start in their new class on Friday, October 7^th.
