Rescheduled Lockdown Drill #2 March 2, 2022

Dear Rousseau families,

We are writing to inform you that due to the snow day on Friday, our school will be holding Lockdown Drill #2 on Wednesday March 2, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. so that staff and students are prepared in case of an emergency.

Please note, we will schedule three more fire drills and a Bomb Threat Drill in the Spring. (dates tbd)

We appreciate the co-operation of our students and staff during the drill.

It is also important that we all remain aware of secure schools terminology used in all of Ontario’s publicly funded schools.

You can learn more about HWDSB’s approach to secure schools at https://hwdsb.info/secureschools

“It is critical that procedures for conducting emergency planning drills (e.g. lockdown, secure and hold, shelter in place) be aligned with current public health advice and measures”. This this means that standard procedures such as huddling in a corner or pulling students who are in the hallway into the nearest classroom are only to be DISCUSSED AND EXPLAINED by teachers in order to comply with physical distancing, face mask protocol and the promotion of proper hand hygiene guidelines.

*Please note that in the event of an emergency or crisis, public health advice related to COVID-19 may not be achievable, based on the response required. In an emergency/crisis event, priority is on the imminent threat, not enhanced public health measures.

Sincerely,

Tammy
