Welcome Back

We are very excited to begin the 2022-23 school year.  Staff have been very busy getting classrooms ready and look forward to getting to know their students better in the next few weeks.

If you haven’t been to the school lately, please walk by sometime, Facilities repaved the back playground, repainted lines and planted more trees.  Great renewed spaces for students to play in during recess.

We have a few staff changes from June and over the summer.  We would like give a profound thank you for their service to our students and community to Liz Skinner (LRT), Karen Caton (FDK), Lindsay Boyle (FDK), Katherine Skinner (FDK), Sarah Mazarese (French), Rose Zambakkides (French/67), Dwayne Little (gr 7), Klara Gresku (23A) and Margarita Stewart (Reading Specialist).  These teachers have all moved on to different roles both in and outside HWDSB.  We wish them well.  A full staff listing can be viewed by clinking staff in the menu bar.

Information Sharing

Startup of a school year is always filled with information and forms.  As a dad of twins in gr 7, I fully appreciate as a parent the amount of forms that need filling out and how overwhelming everything can be.  We will try to make this as easy as possible knowing that many of the forms are all about student safety and updating student information.

Newsletters, events, general information ect, will all be digital, posted to our website and/or emailed. If you go to our website you can subscribe so you get notified when items are posted.

Please ensure that you have given us your current email address as items will be sent through email both at a school and HWDSB level.   Check your spam folders as almost always if you are not getting emails that’s where the messages are going.  You can change your email’s rules around spam to stop treating HWDSB emails as spam and redirect them to your normal inbox.

Please sign into the parent portal, we can help if you are able to.  Here you will find all the forms that need to be filled out for students.

HWDSB sent out an email Aug 29 to families with lots of information including a new HWDSB app that makes connecting with various HWDSB apps/websites much easier.

Courtesy Transportation 

                We are accepting courtesy transportation forms.  We will review the applications and make decisions about ridership by September 28 2022.  Please be reminded if you were granted courtesy transportation last year you still must reapply and wait.  Please do not take the bus until you are granted permission.

First Day Back – Sept. 6 2022 Gr 1-8, Sept 7 2022 for all FDK

We are very excited to see you all.  Please join us on the back playground.  All the staff will be out to greet the students.  We wrote your child’s new class and teacher for this school year on their June 2022 report card.  You can also login to the parent portal to find it.  Please do not come to the front door, we can help on the back playground.  FDK students can join us the FDK playground.  Please be reminded that parents can not enter the FDK playground space for everyone’s safety.  School times are 9:15 AM – 3:35 PM.

School Council 2022-23

Please consider joining school council.  Its great way for us to connect with parents to hear concerns, ideas, and the school to share planning and student achievement goals.  An application is attached.  Elections will be held Oct 7 2022.

Final Message for Now

There will be far more information being sent home by individual classroom teachers.  As always please call the office with any questions you might have.
