Ridgemount Families,

A reminder that progress reports will go home this Tuesday, October 29th. Please be sure to read through your child’s report wtih them and be sure to inform your child’s teacher if you would like to arrange an interview for Thursday, November 7th from 3:30-6:30pm or Friday, November 8th from 8:45-11:45am. For those students in grades 6 thought to grade 8 all teachers, including rotary subject teachers will be availble in the gymnasium for teacher interviews on the dates and times listed above. This will be set up on a first come first serve basis as no appointments will be necessary. We ask that you keep your time limit to no more than 10-15 minutes so that all parents/guardians can have the opportunity to meet with their child’s teacher(s). Please remeber to sign the report and complete the parent/guardian and student section and return to the school as soon as possible.

Please be sure to check the lost and found bins located  in the front foyer of the school as it is overflowing with items looking for their rightful  owners.

Thank you to all families that have donated to our Scare Hunger Away food drive. We are still collecting food items until the end of this week when we will be donting our collection to a local charity. Thank you to all Ridgemount volunteers for dedicating their time to support us with driving to atheletic events, supervising field trips and helping out in classrooms.

Please be sure to have your child check the lost and found bin in the front foyer of the schoo as it is overflowing with items looking for theri owners.   A reminder that all parents/guardians must enter the school at the front doors on Hester Street. We are a secure access school and in order to ensure the saftey of all students we ask everyone visiting the school or picking up students to enter through this door only. Also our school board Nutriotn Policy and student allergies/fo0d restrictions does not allow families to bring in cakes, cupcakes or other treats to celebrate birhtdays so please check with your child’s teacher before bringing any food into the school so that they can inform you as to what is permitted. Thank you.

Please continue to  inform and update teachers regarding your children (i.e., medical, allergies, special education needs, parent/guardian changes, address / phone).   If your child will need to have medication administered at school, there are mandatory forms to be completed and signed by the treating physicians so please request these forms from the office and have them completed as soon as possible. (NOTE: WE CANNOT ADMINISTER ANY FORM OF MEDICATION INCLUDING OVER THE COUNTER MEDICATIONS WITHOUT THE APPROPRIATE PAPERWORK COMPLETED).

If you require assistance or have any questions about completing these forms please contact your child’s teacher or the school office ( 905 575 1535).  Accurate and updated completion of these forms helps us to communicate better with you and to stay updated.

A reminder that playground supervision begins at 8:30 am and goes until the bell at 8:45am. Do not leave students unattended before this time please.  Supervision is also provided from 3:05-3:20pm so be sure that all students are picked up by 3:20pm. Kindergarten families will pick up their children just outside of the Kindergarten Area at the end of each day.

We ask that parents and guardians avoid entering the classrooms unless you have made an appointment or need to speak to a staff member. Please come by the office and we will do our best to accommodate you.  This ensures the safety of all students and allows our staff to successfully carry on their responsibilities with as little disruption as possible.

In order to ensure the safety of everyone at Ridgemount please adhere to the traffic / parking signs posted around the school premises. There are designated parking spots and areas that must be kept clear for our buses. Our buses stop on Hester Street and on Ronaldshay Avenue so please keep these areas clear at all times. There is parking/stopping on the East side of Ronaldshay and further up Ronaldshay adjacent the staff parking lot. We ask that parents/guardians not enter the school parking lot during entry and dismissal as we also have our students with special needs loading and unloading buses in the parking lot.  The City By Law officers do monitor our school and will ticket so please be diligent in abiding by these rules.
