Ridgemount Families:

We apologize for our school sign at the front of the school that is not working. We have put in a work order for repair and hope that it will be up and running early this week.

SUb

Also our first sub day will take place on Tuesday, Oct 2nd during the Second Nutrition break at 12:45pm. The sub order forms will be sent home on Monday Sept 24th but they will need to be returned by this Thursday Sept 27th to order a sub.  Subs would then be delivered for second nutrition break on Tuesday October 2nd.  Sorry for the short notice everyone but we did want to try to get a sub day in soon as our students are asking.  Sub order forms will also be made available online. Click on the link below to download and print a copy of a sub form.

We will be honouring Orange Shirt day this week at Ridgemount with a variety of activities to increase awareness and understanding of this event (assemblies, class discussions, a showcase in our foyer, announcements and Orange Shirt Day this Friday). Orange Shirt Day is about learning the history of Residential schools and how it still affects people today. We wear orange to honour the lives of Indigenous children who were taken from their homes and families, to live in residential schools. Wearing orange shows that we care, and we won’t forget. Please be sure to ask your child about what they are learning and support us by helping your child(ren) choose an orange shirt or an orange article of clothing to support our school initiative.

In order to ensure the safety of everyone at Ridgemount please adhere to the traffic / parking signs posted around the school premises. There are designated parking spots and areas that must be kept clear for our buses. Our buses stop on Hester Street and on Ronaldshay Avenue so please keep these areas clear at all times. There is parking/stopping on the East side of Ronaldshay and further up Ronaldshay adjacent the staff parking lot. We ask that parents/guardians not enter the school parking lot during entry and dismissal as we also have our students with special needs loading and unloading buses in the parking lot.  The City By Law officers do monitor our school and will ticket so please be diligent in abiding by these rules.

Be sure to register to our school website at www.hwdsb.on.ca/ridgemount (under the school photo in the bottom right corner is the link to “Register”) to keep updated on upcoming school events and news!! Be sure to tell our new Ridgemount families to register to our website as well!

A reminder that if you need to stop by the school you will need to enter at the front entrance on Hester St. As we are a secure facility you will need to push the doorbell button and wait for an office staff to identify you and then open the door.  If you are dropping off lunches for your child you can place it on the lunch cart outside the office labelled “Student Lunches”. Be sure to prearrange this with your child so that they know to come to the office at the Nutrition Break to pick up their lunch as we are unable to keep lunches in the office area.
