Week Of April 30 – May 4, 2018

Dear Ridgemount Families,

Wow, April went by so fast and now as we approach May there are a lot of things happening! Firstly, we are welcoming Ms. Spence who will be working in the mornings as a Clerical Assistant with Ms. Rocheleau in our office. We are very happy to have her join our team! Also welcome back to Ms. Jackson our music teacher as she will be returning part time to teach our Music program! We are glad that she has returned and will be working together with Ms. Boichuk for the next few weeks.  Secondly, congratulations to all of the recipients of the Excellence in Responsibility certificates! Last Thursday we celebrated with an assembly and honoured all of the recipients. The names of the winners will be posted in the display case in the main foyer of the school this week. Although we will continue to work on demonstrating Responsibility and our Ridgemount Road to Success Expectations we will be shifting our focus to Organization for the next month.

Parents and guardians, please have a conversation with your child or children about these steps to success and our new focus of Organization. What do these look like? How can we accomplish these goals? How do these goals show Responsibility which is the focus for the next few weeks and April’s assembly.

Also a reminder that we have placed a Lunch Cart in front of the office for parents/guardians to drop off lunches.  A sign is posted just above the care under the bulletin board in front of the office. Use the stickers provided to put names on lunches and let your child know that their lunch will be on the Lunch Cart located in front of the office.

A reminder that our School Council and Meeting Minutes from last weeks meeting and all previous meetings are posted on our school website under School Council Meeting Minutes. Thanks to everyone for supporting our school Chocolate Sales Fundraiser. We made over $6000. 00 to go towards our Science and Technology Department!

Our PE/Health on Growth &Development curriculum will begin this week.

A reminder that next week is Education Week in the HWDSB and we will be having our Open House on Thursday, May 10 from 5:00-6:30pm. Please join us so that we can showcase all of the great things happening at Ridgemount.  Thank you to our School Council for organizing food trucks for everyone to enjoy that evening and our Grade 8’s will be selling Freezies as a fundraiser for their Graduation!
