Dear Ridgemount families:Ridgemount

I hope everyone is enjoying the warmer weather that has finally sprung upon us!  A reminder to have your children check the lost and found for items that may be missing. We have accumulated a couple of large bags of belongings that will be taken to a local charity this Friday, April 27th if they are not claimed by students.

Also a reminder that we have placed a Lunch Cart in front of the office for parents/guardians to drop off lunches.  A sign is posted just above the care under the bulletin board in front of the office. Use the stickers provided to put names on lunches and let your child know that their lunch will be on the Lunch Cart located in front of the office.

CartUnfortunately we are unable to keep collecting lunches in the office area due to health & safety and allergies. This will also decrease the amount of traffic in the office area during Nutrition Breaks so that office staff can work more efficiently. Thank you for your support with this.

A special thank you to Ms. Toth and her grade 8’s as well as Mr. Adams Gr 7/8 classess for participating in the Invention Convention Showcase that took place last week. A large number of very creative and innovative inventions were showcased in preparation for the I-Cubed Invention Convention at the HWDSB coming up this Friday, April 27th. Congratulations to our winners!

Also a special thank you to Ms. Gresku and the Eco Team as they coordinated our Annual Earth Day Playground Clean Up. Thanks to all Ridgemount students for participating in this very important and worthwhile global event that should really take place every day!

A reminder that our Learning Skills and Work Habits assembly will take place this Thursday, April 26, 2018 in the gym. Due to space limitations only parents/guardians of award recipients and parents and guardians of presenters will be invited to the assembly from their child’s classroom teacher. Stay tuned for invites coming in this week but be reminded to review our Ridgmount Road to Success Expectations and the Learning Skill, Responsiblity which will be the Learning Skill that we will be celebrating at this Thursdays assembly.

Ridgemount Road to Success Expecations:

  1. Always keep your hands and feet to yourself
  2. Be where you’re supposed to be
  3. Treat others how you want to be treated
  4. Calm and quiet movement in the hall
  5. Listen to and follow instruction from all adults in the school

Parents and guardians, please have a conversation with your child or children about these steps to success and our RESPONSIBILITY focus. What do these look like? How can we accomplish these goals? How do these goals show Responsibility which is the focus for the next few weeks and April’s assembly.

RESPONSIBILITY
  • I will follow the school and classroom rules.
  • I will come to school on time.
  • I will fill in my agenda and share it with my parents.
  • I will bring everything I need into the class.

Growth and Development Program (Health & Phys. Ed)

A reminder that our Growth and Development Teachers of Health and Physical Education will be sending home parent / guardian letters to have you consent to having your child participate in the Growth & Development Curriculum program offered at all schools in Ontario. We are available to meet with any parents/ guardians that have questions to support this learning and will also make arrangements to have interpreters available if required.  Please go to the Ministry Of Education Website for more information on the Growth and Development Program.
