Week Of March 19-23, 2018

Welcome Back Ridgemount Families!

I hope that everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable March Break with family and friends.We are back with just over 3 months of school left and a lot to do! Our next few weeks are very busy as we are well into our final term. This includes registering our new Year 1 Kindergarten students, getting our Year 2 Kindergarten students ready for Grade 1, getting our grade 8’s ready for High School, preparing for grade 3 and 6 EQAO, Special Education Meetings and Reviews and finally,  continuing to make progress in all grades in our learning skills and work habits, numeracy and literacy as well as all other subject areas. Thank you to everyone for supporting our school and staff through this very busy time of year!

A reminder of our School Council meeting in the Library on Monday, March 19th, 2018 at 6:30pm. Child care is available and all are welcome to attend. We always look forward to seeing some new faces and hearing from all our families.

A reminder to those students choosing to sell chocolates for our school fundraiser that all unsold chocolates are to be returned to your child’s teacher. Please also be sure to check that all money collected is counted correctly and returned to the school. If you have any questions about chocolate sales please contact your child’s teacher as this amazing event will be in full swing very soon. Stay tuned for updates. Thanks to Mr. Massie and all of our staff for their help with this great fundraising event!

Thanks to all parents/guardians for assisting us with making Ridgemount a rich learning environment and a safe place by adhering to the parking signs posted at the front and side of the school. Be sure to not block the bus loading zones as those violating could be ticketed and we do want to ensure the safety of all students.

Please support us by making sure students are on time so they do not miss their buses and by encouraging those that can walk to school to please do so. A reminder to continue to talk to students about bus safety as we continue to hear from drivers that there are occasionally issues. We apologize for the buses that have arrived late this last month. We are continuing to share our concerns and will continue to address these issues with our Transportation Department.

A reminder to please be sure to contact the school if your child is going to be absent or will be picked up early. Clearly say your child’s full name, their teachers name and the reason for the absence.  The school  number is 905 575 –  1535.  Please try to be on time so as not to disrupt the morning announcements and the instruction of the students.
