Orange Shirt Day – September 30th
Queen Mary School will recognize Orange Shirt Day on Monday, September 30th. This important day honours the experiences of Indigenous children who were taken from their families and placed in residential schools, and it reminds us that Every Child Matters.
At HWDSB, we deeply value our longstanding relationships with the local Indigenous community. At Queen Mary, as part of our commitment to truth and reconciliation, students will be engaging in meaningful learning activities throughout the day.
We will also come together for a whole-school assembly in the morning to reflect, learn, and honour the voices of Indigenous peoples.
We encourage all students and staff to wear orange to show support and solidarity.
