Welcome back!

Dear Queen Mary Students, Parents, and Guardians,

I hope you had a peaceful and enjoyable summer filled with activities that brought you happiness. It is with great excitement that I welcome all our new students to Queen Mary and extend a warm welcome back to our returning students!

As some of you may know, there has been a change in our Administration. Ms. Marino, our former Vice-Principal, has taken on a new role at Shannen Koostachin School. We will miss her leadership presence, but we know she will continue to do wonderful work for her new school community. I’m also pleased to introduce Mr. Anevich, who will be joining us as Vice Principal. Together, we are committed to making sure every student at Queen Mary feels they belong and are supported.

One of our top priorities this school year is to ensure that every student feels connected and valued here at Queen Mary. We believe that a strong sense of belonging is essential for success. To achieve this, we will continue to listen to the voices of our students and families. We encourage you to share your thoughts and ideas on how we can make Queen Mary an even better place for everyone.

For those of you returning, you already know how special Queen Mary is. Our dedicated staff work hard to build Caring Adult relationships with students and to support their academic and personal growth. For those of you who are new, I am confident you will quickly see how committed our staff are to your child’s well-being and success.

Class information will be available to all families through the Parent Portal during the week of August 26. The first day of classes for students in grades 1-8 will be on Tuesday, September 3. Kindergarten students will have a slightly different schedule: Junior Kindergarten (JK) students will visit on Tuesday, and Senior Kindergarten (SK) students will start on Wednesday. For more details, please check our website under the “Kindergarten at QM” tab.

Our school hours are from 9:00 am to 3:20 pm. For the most up-to-date information, please subscribe to our website: Queen Mary Elementary School.

We also invite you to join us for our first School Council meeting of the year on Tuesday, September 24, at 4:30 pm in the school library/Imaginarium. All parents and caregivers are welcome to attend. Your participation is crucial to our school community, and we would love to hear your input.

I am truly looking forward to working with you throughout the 2024-25 school year. Together, as students, staff, families, and community members, we make a strong and effective team. I am confident that by learning from and with each other, we will achieve great things this year.

I can’t wait to see you all soon!

Warm regards,
Stephanie McNeill
