Class Reorganization

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Each fall, HWDSB reviews elementary student enrolment in schools, and reorganizes staffing if actual enrolment differs from spring projections. It is normal for student enrolment to fluctuate a little.

This year, the fall reorganization is more widespread due to the in-person/remote option for students, as well as the ongoing need to meet provincial class size requirements. In addition, we have experienced an overall growth in elementary enrolment across the school board.

Specifically, at our school, the reorganization will mean:

· Creating an additional combined class for Grade 3/ 4 – there will be a new teacher assigned to this class

· Changing the 2/3 to a straight Grade 3 – Ms. Balice will be teaching this class

· Changing the 4/5 to a straight Grade 5 – Mr. Kore will be teaching this class

· Changing the 5/6 to a straight Grade 6 – Ms. Iarocci will be teaching this class

There will be additional staff changes as some of our positions were staffed with Long Term Occasional Teachers (LTOs). We will communicate the staff list once the staffing process is complete.

Students who are moving to a new class will be notified by Tuesday, October 3rd.

Our Meet the Staff Night is on Thursday, October 5th, from 3:30-5 on the South Playground. This will give you an opportunity to meet your child’s teachers.

The first day for the new classes is Friday, October 6th.
