Social Work Week March 6-12

The first week of March marks Social Work Week in Ontario, a chance for us to celebrate the essential contributions of social workers in HWDSB school communities and across the province.

Each day, social workers make valuable contributions to student well-being and achievement. HWDSB social workers help students by supporting mental well-being, leading therapeutic groups, addressing important social issues, and so much more.

More than 20,000 social workers assist Ontario clients, patients, individuals, families, and communities. We are so grateful for the social workers of HWDSB who help make up this vital network of support.

March 6 to 12 also marks Black Mental Health Week, which aims to bring awareness to the historical and current effects of systemic, anti-Black racism on mental health and wellness. This year’s themes of #SocialWorkIsEssential and #MobilizingMentalHealth speak to the diverse and essential nature of social work in mobilizing mental health access for all Canadians.

Mental health affects us all – and has real impacts on our lives. It is important to remember that personal and professional supports are available.

Please join us in thanking our social worker, Krista Kleinwort, for all she does for our students at Prince of Wales.
