Administration Change at Prince of Wales for 2021-22 School Year

May 2021

Dear Community,

It has been a long year and a half as we worked together through a very difficult time.  I would like to thank all the parents/caregivers, students and staff for helping to make the best of it, keeping each other as safe as we could, and providing the best educational experience possible.  We all know it hasn’t been easy for any of us.

Despite the challenges, we didn’t stop at the school learning and growing.  We saw smiles on playgrounds (when we could), and kids in classes achieving their best throughout the year.  Staff continued to grow professionally, bringing new ideas to their practice looking to improve student outcomes.

Between a retirement and people looking for new adventures, we will see staff changes as we move into the 2021-22 school year.  We will update once the staffing process is complete.  This also includes a change at Vice Principal.  Tracy Walsh who has served since late 2020 is moving to Frank Panabaker in Ancaster as a full time VP.  You may not be aware that Tracy has been split between Prince of Wales and Adelaide this past year and is looking forward to just being in one spot!  I know in speaking with her, that POW has taught her a tremendous amount and she will miss this school and community.  We wish her well in the future.

It is with very mixed emotions that I announce my departure from Prince of Wales as well.  Earlier this year, based on both personal and professional reasons, I made the difficult decision to ask for a new opportunity, which I was given at Ridgemount Elementary starting September 2021.  Having served this community twice, as VP for 2 years and now as Principal for 3 years has been both a privilege and honour.   It was wonderful to reconnect with students, staff and community from my time as VP and as equally rewarding to connect with new staff, students and community as Principal.   My greatest joy was talking with students during my walk arounds.  I will miss that the most.

At this time I am more than pleased to announce that your new Vice Principal with be Mr Marco Lutterotti and Mrs Mubina Panju is returning to Prince of Wales as Principal!!  I know both Mrs Panju and Mr Lutterotti will reach out to the community shortly.  We know changing both administrators in a school can be very stressful, but knowing that Mrs Panju is returning to a school and community she already knows and loves will make this transition easier.   These changes take effect July 1 2021.

With thanks…

Mike Castellani, former Principal of Prince of Wales
