No Toys at School

October 6, 2020

Parents / Caregivers,

Our time at school is when we focus on learning and safety, and toys present as a distraction.  Students are asked not to bring toys, specifically; Pokemon cards, stuffed animals, fidget spinners, and Lego.  These items often cause distractions, disagreements and disappointments in the classroom during Nutrition Break (indoors and outdoors), and in bus lines. Many problems have been encountered because toys have been lost, broken and misplaced.  Our goal is for students to focus on learning in class without the distraction of toys. During nutrition breaks; 20 minutes eating in a focused way, and 20 minutes playing together outside actively with peers. eg: recess games.  At dismissal, waiting in a calm and orderly manner without the distraction of toys.

Thank you,

École Élémentaire Michaëlle Jean
