News and Notes – October 17

Hello Families,

We hope you have had a great week. This past week we were able to complete another fire safety drill. It is important for our staff and students to know how to evacuate the school quickly in case of an emergency. The students did really well and it is so impressive that we can get more than 700 people out of our school in under 3 minutes!

Vaccine suspensions will be coming later this year and will impact grade 4-8 students who are not up-to-date with their vaccines. This is a good time to plan your updates and appointments with your medical teams to ensure that your child is not impacted. Please update records through public health. You can call 905-540-5250 or email [email protected] for more information.

Next week we will have a PD day on Friday where we will be continuing our professional learning around safe and supportive school environments, literacy, and math. Students will not be at school Friday October 24th.

Thank you for continuing to talk to your children about looking after our school spaces on evenings and weekends. Although there are still some incidents and issues, there has been less overall. We appreciate working with our community to help students feel safe in, and proud of their community.

For those celebrating this weekend – we wish you a happy Diwali!

~Mrs. McCrory, Principal ([email protected])
