News and Notes – October 4, 2024

Hello Lake Ave families!

We had a busy week this past week with our reorganization of classes. We know change is hard and we are so proud of our students and staff for making these changes smooth for all. We often say “you can do hard things” and we are proud of our students for proving that this week. Thank you, families,for supporting your children with the transition.

Thank you to families for respecting our pickup and dropoff routines. Having parents say goodbye at the door or playground is really helping to reduce congestion and improve safety.  Please remember that we start school at 8:50 am and we would really appreciate if students were on time to reduce classroom interruptions.

We are really in need of volunteers! Please get your vulnerable sector police check and sign up to help supervise trips. Without volunteers, there will not be trips. Police checks are easy to get online at https://hamiltonpolice.on.ca/how-to/get-background-check.

Pizza days are going well. Please have money for pizza or tickets in to the teacher by Tuesday as we order the correct amount to serve on Thursdays. Unfortunately there are no refunds for missed pizza as they count in our order. Online ticket purchases (10 tickets for $20) are available from Friday – Monday at noon. Tickets work like cash and should be handed in to the teacher by Tuesday (one ticket per slice needed).

Thank you to PC Children’s Charities for supporting our nutrition program! We feed kids for free each day in all classrooms through this funding.

Our Meet the Staff event is Tuesday October 8 from 3:30-5 pm. There will be limited quantities of food for sale to enjoy and classrooms will be open to walk through. We look forward to seeing you there.
