News and Notes – September 26

Hello families,

Each fall, HWDSB reviews elementary student enrolment in schools, and reorganizes staffing if actual enrolment differs from spring projections. It is normal for student enrolment to fluctuate resulting in some changes to classes for students.

Specifically, at our school, the reorganization will mean:

  • The loss of a grade 4 class
  • The loss of a grade 2/3 class
  • Gaining a grade ¾ class
  • Shuffling students from classes based on the new school organization.

These changes will mean that we will be adjusting classes, beginning October 3, resulting in some students (approximately 50) switching classes. As always, care and consideration are an important part of making balanced classrooms where students thrive. We know change can be difficult, but our caring educators will work with your children to ensure they feel welcome and safe in their new classrooms.

Other upcoming events:

Our Terry Fox Run happened today – you can still donate to cancer research. Staff will continue to collect next week.

Volleyball team tryouts are underway for grades 7/8. It great to see students out working on their skills outside of practice with friends.

Meet the Teacher  – Tuesday October 7, 3:30-5 PM

Orange Shirt Day (Truth and Reconciliation Day)

October 2 – Custodian’s Day

Please check out the free sports and recreation programs sponsored through Empowerment Squared. Basketball is starting soon!  Visit: empowermentsqd.recdesk.com

Have a great weekend and we look forward to seeing our wonderful students again on Monday morning 🙂
