Good evening Hillcrest families – it’s Mr. Blunsdon here.

Welcome to the first Hillcrest School message for the 2023-24 School Year. My name is Chris Blunsdon and for those who are new to Hillcrest, I am the Principal  – and along with our Vice-Principal, Mrs. Marino, and entire staff  – I would like to welcome everyone to the new school year!

Every couple of weeks, you can expect to receive a phone message from me that provides updates, upcoming events, and celebrations from our school and community. The text from these messages – as well as a quick summary for easy reference – will also be posted to our school website the morning after the phone call under the Spartan News section for your reference and review.

My most important message today is about the First Day of School – because it is a little different this year. The first day of school for Grades 1-8 is Wednesday September 6^th. Supervision starts on the Playground at 8:55 – where we will have signs to indicate where students can meet their new teacher before entering the school. If you don’t know who your child’s teacher is yet, please log on to the Parent Portal and you will be able to find that out. But don’t worry, if you can’t access the portal – we will have everything you need the morning of the 6^th to get everyone where they need to be.

For Kindergarten students – there is a different start date than other students.  If your child is a Year 1 JK student, they will have a short scheduled visit with their educators on Wednesday September 6^th and start coming to school all day on Thursday Sept 7th.  Year 2 SK students will stay home on Wednesday September 6^th while these visits take place – and will also start school on Thursday Sept 7th.
