Week of Jan 4-8

Dear Gatestone Families,

As per Ministry direction, students will be working online for the week of January 4th-8th.  In-class learning is set to resume January 11th.

On Monday, January 4th, educators will be communicating with students and families (e.g., e-mail, phone call, HUB, MS Teams) to prepare for learning remotely.  On Tuesday, January 5th students will follow their classroom schedule posted by their homeroom teacher.

Grades 1-8

MS Teams and HWDSB Hub are the only platforms students will use.

Devices will be deployed to families that completed the Device Survey Need back in November and expressed a need for a device.  Families that made a request have received an e-mail through SchoolMessenger today regarding device pick up time.  On January 4th, staff will be distributing devices for those requests.  Families that did not fill out the survey and do not have access to online learning should connect with the school on January 4th to discuss with administration.  If you requested a device and did not receive an e-mail through SchoolMessenger, please connect with the school on Monday, January 4th between 9AM-10AM to find out your scheduled time for pick up.

Kindergarten

An “At Home Learning Program” has been created through HWDSB School Programs for students in Kindergarten that do not have a device that allows them to access MS Teams or the HWDSB HUB. Kindergarten teachers will be reaching out on Monday to all families to determine who requires the 5 day program.  The program will be e-mailed  on January 4th by your child’s homeroom teacher.   A hard copy is also available for pick up at our main office Monday afternoon if required. Please inform your child’s homeroom teacher if you need to pick up materials from our main office so we can schedule a time. The HWDSB will not be deploying devices for Kindergarten students at this time as this program is a supplement to support remote learning for students without access to MS Teams or the HWDSB HUB for the week of January 4th-8th.
