March 2023 updates

Hello Eastdale Families,

Here are just a few reminders for the month of March

1. Pizza Days March 7th and 21st.

3. March Break 11-15
4. March 11th Ramadan begins
5. March 14th Sikh New Year
6. Good Friday March 29th

Each year, as part of our Safety Plan, Eastdale School conducts three fire drills (Fall and Spring), one bomb threat drill, two lockdown and one shelter in place and hold and secure rehearsals.  These planned rehearsals are important in ensuring that staff and students are aware of how to respond appropriately in the event of a real emergency.  If any deficiencies or problems are noted, the plan will be adjusted appropriately.

These practices will take place the week of March 18th.  The two scheduled Lockdowns will be on Tuesday March 19th and Friday March 22nd  and Hold and Secure and Shelter in Place on Wednesday March 20th.  These exercises will take approximately 30 minutes. During the exercise, staff and students will be in “lockdown” mode – classroom doors locked, lights off, students sitting in silence.  It is important that cell phones be silenced.  

Upon completion of the drill school administration will direct staff and students to resume normal school activities. These types of training exercises help to ensure that staff and students are ready to respond appropriately in the event of a real emergency.  If you have any questions, please contact members of the school administration at (905) 594-0001.
