Travel Survey with the City of Hamilton

Dear Eastdale Parents, Guardians and Caregivers,
This year has been Eastdales first full year of dealing with the traffic challenges during morning
and afternoon dismissals.

This year our school is joining the Daily School Route (DSR) initiative. The DSR is an active
transportation system for kids with the aspiration of getting 100% of students who live close
enough to walk or wheel to school. Walking/wheeling to school is an opportunity for kids to
experience independence, improve their physical/mental health, and help the environment on
a daily basis.

With the support of the Ward 10 Councillor, we are working on a project to better understand
the school transportation environment across ward 10. To get there, we ask that you complete
a 5 minute survey which asks participants to identify the ways that students get to school
(walk, bike, bus, drive, etc.), the routes they take when they walk/bike, and the changes that
are needed to make it easier for students to walk/wheel to school.

The results of this survey will be available on www.dailyschoolroute.org, and will inform the
next steps to be taken by the community.
