French Immersion Registration Reminder for Senior Kindergarten Parents

This message is a reminder to Senior Kindergarten parents.

On Monday, December 18, the Board of Trustees decided, as part of the French Immersion Boundary Review for East Hamilton and Lower Stoney Creek, that the French Immersion programs at Glen Echo (grades 1-5) be moved to Parkdale, A.M. Cunningham, and the new school on Eastdale for grades 1-5, and that the program at Glen Brae (grade 6-8) be moved to W.H. Ballard and the new school on Eastdale for grades 6-8. Trustees also decided at this meeting that Grade 1 French Immersion is to begin at Parkdale and Green Acres (while Eastdale is being constructed) in September 2018.

With the recent Board of Trustee decision, we are offering Senior Kindergarten Parents at Eastdale the opportunity to enrol your child in the newly created French Immersion Program for September 2018. We understand that some parents may not have chosen French Immersion as an option in the fall due to their child having to travel, but with the program now being offered at Green Acres until the new Eastdale is constructed, we would like to offer you the choice once again.

We are accepting applications until 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, January 31, 2018. Applications are only being accepted through the online application form at fiweb.hwdsb.on.ca/.

French Immersion is a proven way of acquiring excellent language skills in French. The French Immersion program at HWDSB is specifically designed for parents who do not speak French but want their children to speak both official languages.
