New “Final Call” Note for Book Swap
This is the final call for donations to the Annual Book Swap! This event is supported entirely by student donations, so if you have kids’ books sitting on your shelf that you no longer read or need, please drop them in the main floor photocopy room (marked Conference Room) so that they can find a new loving home.  Chapter books, non-fiction books, and graphic novels are in especially high demand. On Wednesday May 21st, students will invited to come down with their classes throughout the day to select up to 4 books (a 25 cent per book donation to the school library is requested), and students are welcome to return with their parents at the end of the school day to help clean us out. This event is always lots of fun for the students and fosters both a sense of community and a love of reading. We’re looking forward to it!

Look for Library Books
With the school year coming to an end next month, just a friendly reminder to please check backpacks, desks, and at home for any outstanding library books.  You may drop them off in the Bookie Monster when found. And any books lost are subject to a replacement fee ($15 for paperbacks and $20 for hardcovers) or parents may opt to donate that amount’s worth of new or gently used books for the library. Thank you for checking!

Are You Moving?
We will be starting class building soon and we need to plan for next year. If you already know you will be moving, or your child will not be coming to Earl Kitchener in September, please reply to this email, let the office know, or inform your teacher. Thank you for your assistance.

First Annual Plant Sale
Thank you to all the EK friends and family who donated plants or stopped by to purchase plants at our 1st Annual Plant Sale.  We raised $202 towards ongoing front garden projects.  Save the date May 25th @ 10am to get your hands dirty planting!!!  Volunteers needed for the EK garden planting and maintenance.  All help is appreciated.  Contact Lesley ([email protected]) for more information.

Piano Lessons at Earl Kitchener
It is now time to register for in-school piano lessons at Earl Kitchener for next September.  Due to a Board of Education policy, lessons are on a semi-private basis, and take place once a week during school hours.  Students must have a piano or full-size keyboard at home on which to practice.  For more information, please contact Susan Chambers-Stothart at (905) 522-4303.

Have a wonderful week!
