Welcome Back!

The first day of school is Tuesday September 6^th.  We recognize that during the first few days of school, transitions for students need to be considered.  Therefore, on the first day of school, the Grade 1’s and 2’s  and combined classes of 2/3’s will be organizing into their classes in the gym.  Parents are welcome at this time to enter the gym with their child to meet the teacher.  The Grades 3’s, 4’s, and 5’s will be organizing into their classes on the back playground.  Parents are welcome to join their child on the back playground to meet their teacher before the bell rings.  There will be ample staff available to help assist children to the right classrooms or teachers if parents or guardians are unable to stay.  For the rest of the week (September 7th – 9th), the playground morning entry will be lenient so parents will be able to walk their child onto the playground and to their line if the student requires it.  However, starting Monday September 12^th, we will be continuing to follow the current playground practice by asking parents to wait in a specific area on the playground.

If it is a rainy morning then all primary classes (grades 1,2,and 3’s) will organize in the gym.  The junior basement classes will open for students to go right to their classroom.  Signs will be posted on the classroom doors.

The Kindergarten children will be organizing in the Kindergarten area located on the Stanley Street side of Earl Kitchener.  This will be the area for the Kindergarten entry.  The Kindergarten dismissal will continue to be from the back playground starting at 3:05 pm.    These classes are listed below:

Dismissal 3:10-3:25 pm
Parents will be invited to pick up their children by accessing the playground at 3:10 p.m.  Grades 1,2, and 3’s will be dismissed onto the back playground.   Grade 4’s and 5’s will be dismissed out the side doors.  On the back playground, there will be pylons to help parents identify the area they are not to cross.  This again helps staff with sight lines to help identify who has not been picked up.  Children that are not picked up will wait near the middle stairs with the teachers that are on duty and brought into the school at 3:25 p.m. so the office staff can make a phone call home to see about pick-up arrangements.
