In addition, there will be a table set up in the Gym at Open House tomorrow so stop by to try on sizes! You will be able to pay for your order using cheque, cash, or School Cash Online. Keep in mind that all orders MUST be accompanied by a paper order form submitted to classroom teachers. Show your EK pride!

Book Swap Coming This May 27th

Save the date! The annual Book Swap is just around the corner. To help prepare, there is a blue Rubbermaid bin in the photocopy room next to the library ready to collect your book donations.  Please bring in your used books suitable for children from JK to Grade 5.  On the day of the Swap, children will have the opportunity to buy books for 25 cents with all proceeds going to the school library.  Parents will have the opportunity to visit the Book Swap after school that day.  Please contact [email protected] with any questions.
Thank you!

Pediculosis (Head Lice)

What happens when you get a bunch of kids together? You guessed it… head lice (also known as pediculosis)! Let’s work together as a community to help keep the head lice problem under control. Please check your kids at home once a week and let the school know if you have head lice in your house so that other children who have contact with your child can be checked as well. The video below will help you know what to look for.  Need help with treatment for head lice? Here are some resources from the City of Hamilton Public Health Website. They run Bug Buster clinics after school and can help with treatment.

School Cash Online…What Happens Next Year?

The end of the school year is only a few weeks away.  Rest assured, any unused funds in your School Cash Online MyWallet account will continue to be available to make purchases at the start of the school year in September. For parents / guardians who have already registered on School Cash Online, you will not need to re-enter your child’s PIN codes after the initial setup, even if your child is moving on to another HWDSB school. Not receiving emails about items available to purchase?  Upon your next login to School Cash Online, check the “My Account” tab and that you have consented under “Manage Email Notifications” to receive payment notices and reminders.  Need help?  Call the Parent Help Desk at 1-866-961-1803.

We Need Your Help!

Home and School needs your help! They are looking for volunteers for the following positions – Fright Night Volunteer Coordinator, Home and School Chair and Co-Chair, and Nutrition Program Corrdinators. These positions work great in teams or on your own.  Home and School supports each other in every role.  Please volunteer to keep these initiatives going.

A Note from the Nutrition Team

The Nutrition Program runs on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and will be running until the end of the school year.  People can contact us and come in any week to see how easy it is to pack the bins. If you are able to help in any way, we would greatly appreciate your assistance. Please contact us at [email protected].

Kirkendall Neighbourhood Food Drive

The Kirkendall Neighbourhood Food Drive is coming up on Saturday, May 7th and they are looking for our help.  To support the food drive, Earl Kitchener will be holding a mini food drive within the next few weeks.   As a result, a couple of Mission Services food barrels will be placed at the school where food donations can be dropped off.  At the end of our mini food drive, Mission Services will come and pick up the barrels, weigh them, and let us know how many pounds of food were collected by Earl Kitchener.  Your food donation would be greatly appreciated!

Enjoy the sunshine!
