Grade 5 to 6 Transition Night (Tuesday, April 19th)

Can you believe our Grade 5’s are already preparing for the next step?  Well it’s true.  And on Tuesday, April 19th, an information session will be held for Grade 5 students and parents in the Earl Kitchener gym (**not the library**). From 6:30 – 7:30 p.m., there will be a presentation by Steve Chapelle on social media. (This is for parents ONLY; child care is available, registration is required). From 7:30 – 8:30 p.m., there will be a question and answer period about middle school for both parents AND students. Hear from an expert on how to help your child navigate social media. Talk to teachers from Ryerson School. Listen to what current Grade 6 students have to say. Lots to learn! See you there! (Please see attached flyers for more information.) Please be aware that this information session is for Grade 5 parents and students ONLY!

Raising Awesome Kids! An Evening with Gary Direnfeld, MSW, RSW

Join us at Ryerson Middle School on Thursday, April 21st from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. as we welcome Gary Direnfeld, Social Worker, Spectator parenting columnist and media personality, who will be speaking about raising awesome kids. In addition to offering his insights and parenting tips, Gary will also take questions from the audience to address current challenges or concerns. This event will be very enlightening as he shares some of the findings from the workshop he will hold with our students in the school day when he surveys what they think their parents should know about their lives that they may not already know. Gary is frequently described as humourous, engaging, and certainly informative. This is an opportunity to hear from one of Canada’s most recognizable social workers, right here in our own back yard. For more information about Gary Direnfeld visit www.yoursocialworker.com. Please register to attend this event as seating is limited. Questions? Email [email protected]

Kirkendall Neighbourhood Food Drive

The Kirkendall Neighbourhood Food Drive is coming up on Saturday, May 7th and they are looking for our help.  To support the food drive, Earl Kitchener will be holding a mini food drive within the next few weeks.   As a result, a couple of Mission Services food barrels will be placed at the school where food donations can be dropped off.  At the end of our mini food drive, Mission Services will come and pick up the barrels, weigh them, and let us know how many pounds of food were collected by Earl Kitchener.  Your food donation would be greatly appreciated!

Have a great week!
