Kindergarten Registration Begins Monday, February 1st

We are proud to announce that kindergarten registration is available for four (4) and five (5) year olds. Registration will begin Monday, February 1st at 9:30 a.m. for families with children entering either Kindergarten (born 2011 or 2012) or French Immersion Grade 1 (born 2010).  Your child can attend kindergarten if they are age four (4) or five (5) by December 31st (kindergarten attendance is optional), and age six (6) by September 1st (full time attendance is required). For your convenience, please follow the link for the Student Registration Form at https://www.hwdsb.on.ca/earlyyears/kindergarten/ (or see attached), so it may be printed and filled out before you come to the school.  In addition to the completed registration form, the child’s birth certificate (or proof of birth), immunization information, proof of address (hydro bill, etc.), and guardianship / custodianship documents (if applicable) will be needed to complete the process.  Please share this information with your neighbours as well as families new to the Earl Kitchener community.  **Please Note:  students already attending Kindergarten do NOT need to re-register for next year.**

School Cash Online Survey

Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board is pleased to offer School Cash Online, an online service that allows you, as parents / guardians, to pay for your child’s school fees and purchase items related to their school experience in a secure and convenient way. Our school is enrolled with School Cash Online. In order to help us improve the service for families, HWDSB would appreciate feedback from you by completing a short survey, which can be found on our school website. The survey is voluntary and should take about five (5) minutes to complete. All survey responses are anonymous and will be reported on in a summarized format. The survey will remain open until the end of the day on February 12th, 2016. If you have any questions about this survey, please contact Carrie Salemi, Manager of School Support / Compliance, at (905) 527-5092 x2461 or [email protected].

School Cash Online – What is MyWallet?

MyWallet is used when you want to load funds from your bank account in advance of paying for items online. The process of adding funds to MyWallet and paying for items are two separate processes. It is like buying a gift card and then using it later to pay for items. There may be a slight time delay between when funds are loaded in your MyWallet and when they are available for making purchases. Funds may be retained in MyWallet over the summer. As students progress to other HWDSB schools, all MyWallet funds follow the student. If necessary, refunds for unused MyWallet balances may be requested via email to [email protected]. Details on the information requirements to obtain a refund may be found on the “Refund Policy” link on the School Cash Online website.

Earl Kitchener School Grounds Survey – January 2016

We need your ideas and opinions about how we play! We are interested in your opinion on the Earl Kitchener (EK) playground and surrounding property. The EK Parent Council and Sub Committee for School Grounds Renewal are seeking input from EK parents, staff, and neighbours to help inform future playground repair and revitalization decisions.  Students will be engaged in an initiative in school to get ideas too. Please share your ideas and opinions with us by completing this survey.  It takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. Your answers will remain anonymous, and a summary of survey results will be made available on the EK School website. Here is the link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ekschoolgroundssurvey

French Immersion Information Sessions

Families across the Hamilton are being invited to learn more about French Immersion as an option for their child. Because every student is unique in their learning, Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board staff provides programs that help all students reach their full potential. French Immersion is one such program. French Immersion is a proven way of acquiring excellent French language skills. At HWDSB, French Immersion is specifically designed for parents who do not speak French, but want their children to speak both official languages. The program is open to all students in Hamilton-Wentworth starting in Grade 1. Families can attend an information session to learn about French Immersion as an option for their child:

Earl Kitchener Family

Tragically, one of our Earl Kitchener families experienced a home fire. Thankfully no one was injured, but we would like to extend our help to the family and, if you would like to support them as well, please feel free to visit the Home & School website at https://www.facebook.com/EKHomeandSchool/.
