IMPORTANT! Absences

It is a Board policy to ensure each and every child arrives to school safely. As a result, we ask that you please keep us informed if your child will be absent due to illness, an appointment, vacation plans, etc.  Our phone lines are open 24-hours a day, and you can leave a detailed voicemail message by calling (905) 528-0223.  Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Earl Kitchener School Council

The first School Council meeting this year will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd at 7:00 p.m.  We welcome any and all parents to attend.  It’s your chance to hear a recap of what we accomplished last year and initial plans for the upcoming year.  If you’re wondering what School Councils do, here is a short introduction. School Councils are mandated by the Ministry of Education, and work to improve achievement by all students in the school and to enhance the accountability of the education system to parents.  School Councils can advise the principal and the School Board by making recommendations on issues such as curriculum, school environment, and school and school board policies.  The principal and School Board must consider each recommendation and advise Council on the action taken in response. The School Council may have up to 20 Parent Representatives who must commit to attending meetings.  There are up to 10 meetings per year, usually held on the second Tuesday of the month.  Anyone wishing to be a Parent Representative must attend the meeting on September 22nd and put their name forward.  Parents who are not representatives on Council are always welcome to attend meetings and submit items for discussion. If you have any questions about School Council, please contact Mrs. Bratuz, or the 2014-15 School Council Chair, Jenn Walsom at [email protected]. (Please see attached poster.)

Earl Kitchener Home and School

Home and School would like to invite parents interested in being involved in their school community to join us Tuesday, September 22nd at 7:00 p.m. in the Earl Kitchener School Library. The agenda is still being finalized but our focus is Fright Night (scheduled for Saturday, October 24th) and the Milk and Pizza program. Your Home and School Chairs this year are Jenny Bonesteel and Cara Carrothers. We hope to see you there!

Cash Online

Please be advised that the Cash Online is now available for agendas only.

Birthday Cupcakes

A long-standing tradition at Earl Kitchener School is a birthday cupcake day with the Principal.  Children with birthdays within each month are invited to enjoy cupcakes with the Principal, Mrs. Bratuz, usually on the last Monday of each month.  This is a wonderful way for our principal to get to know the children better, and for each child to get to know her as well.  If you would like to volunteer to bake two (2) dozen white cupcakes or two (2) dozen chocolate cupcakes, iced and simply decorated (please remember – no nuts!), please contact Carol Nicholson at [email protected] or at (905) 536-0325. The first date for Birthday Cupcakes is scheduled for Monday, September 28th.
