Earl Kitchener Safety Survey Deadline Is This Friday

Just a reminder that the Earl Kitchener Safety Survey was sent home with the oldest and only student at Earl Kitchener. Please remember to complete the survey, one per family, as the deadline is this Friday, February 13th. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

Kindergarten Registration Is Under Way

Registration started this week for families with children entering either Kindergarten (born 2010 or 2011) or French Immersion Grade 1 (born 2009).  For your convenience, please follow the link for the Student Registration Form at https://www.hwdsb.on.ca/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/Student-Registration-Form.pdf, so it may be printed and filled out before you come to the school.  In addition to the completed registration form, the child’s birth certificate (or proof of birth), immunization information, and proof of address (hydro bill, etc.) will be needed to complete the process.  Please share this information with your neighbours as well as families new to the Earl Kitchener community.  **Please Note:  students already attending Kindergarten at Earl Kitchener School do NOT need to re-register for next year; a form was sent home last week to let us know whether you would like your child in the French or English stream.**

Earl Kitchener is a Safe and Secure School

Especially with the colder temperatures upon us, just a friendly reminder to parents that the doors of the school will be locked and entry to Earl Kitchener is through our main doors (ONLY) on Dundurn Street where you will be buzzed in by the office.  Likewise, to ensure a safe and secure building, please do not keep the door open for other visitors or staff members; each visitor should be buzzed in separately.  Once you enter Earl Kitchener School, all visitors are asked to go directly to the office to sign in or have the office staff assist them with their request.  Please do not go directly to the classroom.  This policy is in place to keep our students safe and ensure that instructional time is uninterrupted.  In addition, if you are dropping your child off for school in the morning, we ask that parents please help your child become independent and to wish your child a great day outside and allow him / her to enter in to the school by himself / herself.  By keeping with Board policy and following the guidelines, we all win by having a safe, secure, and happy school.

Absences

We would also like to remind you to please keep us informed if your child will be absent due to an early vacation, illness, an appointment, etc.  Our phone lines are open 24-hours a day, and you can leave a detailed voicemail message by calling (905) 528-0223.  Your cooperation is greatly appreciated, especially during this busy time of year.

Have a fabulous day!
