* Kindergarten registration
Kindergarten Registration Begins Monday, February 2nd
Registration will begin this Monday, February 2nd at 9:30 a.m. for families with children entering either Kindergarten (born 2010 or 2011) or French Immersion Grade 1 (born 2009).  For your convenience, please follow the link for the Student Registration Form at https://www.hwdsb.on.ca/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/Student-Registration-Form.pdf (or see attached), so it may be printed and filled out before you come to the school.  In addition to the completed registration form, the child’s birth certificate (or proof of birth), immunization information, and proof of address (hydro bill, etc.) will be needed to complete the process.  Please share this information with your neighbours as well as families new to the Earl Kitchener community.  **Please Note:  students already attending Kindergarten do NOT need to re-register for next year.**

Don’t Hibernate…Participate!
Wear Yellow Day—Winter Walk will be held on Wednesday, February 4th.  Let’s show Canada that Hamilton loves to walk!  Please encourage your children, caregivers, and coworkers to walk to school if they can.  Wear Yellow Day information and registration:
https://www.smartcommute.ca/hamilton/schools/wear-yellow-day-hamilton/  Happy walking!
Lost and Found!
The Lost and Found is overflowing with coats, sweatshirts, sweaters, pants, hats, and mitts.  Please have your children check for any missing items.  And due to fire regulations, we cannot have more than the one small box located outside of the main office for a Lost and Found, and it cannot be overflowing onto the floor.  As a result, this Friday, January 30th, our Lost and Found volunteer will be gathering up any items that are left and taking them to be donated to the Good Shepherd.  So please remember to label your child’s belongings as the lost and found box will be reviewed every few days to return labelled items to your child’s classroom.  Thank you for your assistance.
Annual Book Swap
The Annual Book Swap will be held later this spring but we are starting to collect donations now.  If your family has any K-5 appropriate books that you no longer read or need, please send them in with your child or drop them off at the school.  On the day of the swap, classes will be invited to “shop” (we request a 25 cent donation to the school library per book) from our selection.  We collect picture books, early readers, chapter books, non-fiction, comics, and graphic novels in both English and French.  The kids really enjoy this event every year.  Let’s make this year a good one!
