Dundana Back to School Update – August 30th

Dundana staff are gearing up this week to open the 2021-2022 school year.  Here are a few important pieces of information to help your family develop your back-to-school plan.

School Office

The school office will be open August 30 to September 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  for telephone support.  At this time, we are not able to welcome visitors into the building for face-to-face registrations or inquiries.  Instead, you are welcome to contact the school via phone 905.628.2622 or email [email protected] .  We will do our best to get to all of your inquiries as quickly as possible.

PA Days

This year, HWDSB has two PA days prior to students joining us at school.  Thursday, September 2 and Tuesday, September 7 have been designated for staff learning and students will not attend on those days.

First Day of School

Grade 1 to 5 students will begin classes on Wednesday, September 8th.  We will be on a regular day schedule of 8:55 a.m. entry and 3:15 p.m. dismissal.  Buses should be running as scheduled, although it is important to watch the Transportation website for any unexpected delays in service.

New to Kindergarten students will be invited to a short visit at the school on Wednesday, September 8 and will begin their full day school experience on Thursday, September 9th.  Please contact the school if you haven’t received information about your visit time.  Returning Kindergarten students will begin on Thursday, September 9th for the full day as well.

Protocols and Procedures Updates

We are currently waiting on confirmation of the full range of protocols and procedures we will be using to safely begin our school year.  Once these are finalized, they will be posted on our school website, and communicated out by HWDSB centrally. Please watch the school website for these updates later this week.  Hamilton Public Health is working closely with HWDSB to ensure we can put in safety measures to keep our students, staff, families and community as healthy as possible.
