Planning for the Week of April 19th

As you have heard from the Provincial and Board announcements earlier this week, classes at Dundana will not be resuming in person on April 19th.

At the school level, we are waiting for more details about what to expect next week, but there is some information that is currently known.

Monday, April 19th and Tuesday, April 20th have been deemed transition days to allow staff to prepare for remote learning.  There will not be any classes or asynchronous learning plans provided for those two days by school staff.  Instead, classes for all Dundana students will resume online using the platforms of MS Teams and the Hub beginning Wednesday, April 21st.  More class-specific communication will be provided to families on Monday or Tuesday about the class schedules and access to those class meetings.

If your child was provided a school iPad for remote learning in January and February, you will be contacted on Monday April 19th to arrange pick up of a device (if needed) on Tuesday, April 20th.  If your situation has changed and your child didn’t require a device in January/February but now does, please contact [email protected] on Monday, April 19th.  We are still waiting for information about the process for accepting new requests for learning devices, but will hopefully find out more on Monday.

Unfortunately, our planned Photo Day for Tuesday, April 20th has been postponed indefinitely.  When students are returned to in person learning, arrangements will be made to reschedule that session, if possible.  We apologize for any inconvenience this cancellation causes your family.

Please watch this school site, as well as the HWDSB site, for more information as it is made available.  The information about remote learning that has previously been provided by the school and ministry has been re-posted on our school website under the tab “Remote Learning Resources”.

The staff at Dundana know that another transition to remote learning is difficult for students and families.  We will work to try to make this shift again as productive and supportive as we can.  Stay well.
