Lockdown Practice – Monday November 19

As part of our board policy and Safe Schools procedures to keep our students, staff and visitors safe in school, we are required to carry out a number of emergency drills each year.

On Monday, November 19th, we will carry out one of our planned Lockdown drills.  Staff will review the procedures (stay in class quietly, away from windows and doors, hidden in room corner) with students in advance of this drill and we will announce the drill on Monday morning to students to again prepare them for the drill.

While lockdown drills can cause some students to be worried about events that could happen in a school, we try to keep our information to students as positive by letting them know that we hold drills for lockdown, fire and other emergencies as a way to keep everyone safe and prepared.  We encourage you to reinforce this message with your child if he/she demonstrates worries about the drill.
