Upcoming Events at Dundana

We have some exciting events in the next few weeks at Dundana:

Thursday, September 27 –

Terry Fox Run (periods 5 and 6).  All JK to Grade 5 students will be “running for Terry”.  We encourage students to donate a toonie, if possible.  Alternatively, online donations can be made to:  https://www.terryfox.ca/DundanaSchHamilton.   A flyer will come home today about the event.  We encourage families to discuss whether students would like to dedicate their run to a particular family member or friend.

Friday, Sepember 28 –

Orange Shirt Day is celebrated annually to commemorate the lives and survivors of Canada’s Residential Schools and recognize the impacts that continue today.  This is a day for schools to reflect on their commitments and actions to reconciliation and to ensure that we are continuing to pass this important education and work on to the next generation.  Students and staff are encouraged to wear orange on Friday.

Thursday, October 4 –

Meet the Teacher and School Council BBQ.  We will be hosting our annual Meet the Teacher event throughout the school from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Stop by your child’s classroom(s), visit the book fair in the gym and meet some of the staff that your child works with each day.

The School Council will be holding a fundraising BBQ on the playground, beginning at 5 p.m.  Items will be available for sale on School Cash Online for pre-orders, beginning later this week.  A limited number of cash orders will also be available on site on Thursday night.  Council is looking for some volunteers to help work the BBQ.  If you are interested, please sign up here:  https://signup.com/go/kLxTmPb

October 4th is also School Photo day and Scholastic book fair day during the school day.  Watch for information to come home with your child this week about each of these events.
