Brief evacuation after fire alarm

Dear Families,

This is a letter to inform you that Collegiate Elementary School had a brief evacuation today.

We detected a natural gas odour in the building and activated the fire alarm. Staff helped students briefly evacuate to a safe location outside the school.

Hamilton police and fire crews responded quickly and attended. The school was deemed safe to re-enter and students and staff returned to the building.

I would like to thank staff and students for their prompt evacuation and for following our safety protocols.
