Land Acknowledgement at Cecil B. Stirling

Every morning at Cecil B Stirling prior to the National Anthem of Canada we acknowledge the land we are on and thank the original peoples of the land for an opportunity to be on our place of learning.

“At C.B. Stirling we recognize the HAUDEBOSAUNE (ho-den-au-show-nee) of the Six Nations, the ANISHANABE (a-nish-in-a-beh) and the Mississaugas of the New Credit are the original people of the land now known as Hamilton.  We respect their history and we honour them. As the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt teaches us about the agreement made generations ago – This land feeds us all and we must share it with kindness and respect.”
