STUDENT PROTEST/WALKOUT – April 4th 2019

Good afternoon, this is Dave Schroeder, principal at Cecil B. Stirling Elementary School, with an important message. I’m writing to let you know that some of our students participated in a walkout this afternoon that was not a school-sponsored event.

Students walked out of school at approximately 1:25 to join students who are protesting the provincial government’s recent changes to education. Students who chose to participate were marked absent for the classes they missed. You will be notified of these absences.

We respect and support the right of students to advocate for causes that are important to them and welcome the opportunity to work with any student or student group to discuss ways to do so while they remain at school.

Our top priority at Cecil B. Stirling Elementary School is to support student achievement and well-being while maintaining a safe environment for all. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Thank you.
