Balaclava School Update – Week of May 5
It is difficult to find a single day in May that doesn’t have something exciting happening in addition to all of the learning we’re doing right now! A huge thank you to all of our volunteers who help support students for extra curriculars, events and performances. We couldn’t do it without you. Thanks to all of our school teachers and coaches who organize, create trip forms (so. many. forms.) and cheerlead at every event.
This week we have our school Choir attending Choirfest for a performance and adjudication on Tuesday.
Our Senior Swim Team’s re-scheduled swim meet is also on Tuesday.
Classes 45A, 56A and 56B will all be attending the outdoor education site at different points next week – each class will be reminded by their teacher about what to bring and wear for those events.
Additionally, we are excited to host our Spring Open House for all of our families on Wednesday May 7th from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. here at the school. We invite you to visit the classes, check out your child’s work and stop by the Book Fair in the library. To follow Open House, our Band and Choir will perform in the gym at 6:30 for anyone who would like to attend.
Kindergarten Registration
This week also features our Kindergarten Orientation for students who will be joining us for the first time in September 2025. If you or a family you know is planning on attending Balaclava next year, please contact the school and we can provide details of the event. You can start the registration process online at: https://www.hwdsb.on.ca/kindergarten/registration/
