Orange Shirt Day: September 30th

Tomorrow we recognize the lasting and significant impact of Residential Schools on Indigenous Peoples of Canada. September 30th is Orange Shirt Day. By wearing orange we raise awareness and understanding – we convey a message that every child matters. Together we must work toward eradicating racism of all kinds in Canada by being open to learning more and doing better than we have in the past.

At HWDSB, we respect the longstanding relationships with the local Indigenous communities, the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Six Nations of the Grand River. We invite all members of our community to wear orange tomorrow.
