Important – Morning Drop-off at Winona

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I would like to share with you some concerns that I have related to student morning arrival at school.  Please be aware that classes begin at 8:30 a.m. each day at Winona Elementary School.  Arriving after the start of the Instructional Day means students are late for school.  Over the past several weeks, we have noticed that we still have lines of cars pulling into the “Kiss and Drop” lane well past 8:30 a.m. and as late at 8:40 a.m.

We ask for your support in the following areas:

• If you are driving your child(ren) to school, please have them dropped off by 8:30 a.m. at the latest.
• Playground supervision outside runs from 8:15 – 8:30 a.m.  To ensure the safety of children during arrival, we have teachers on duty in the “Kiss and Drop” Lane during this time period only.
• Instructional Time begins at 8:30 a.m. so the teachers are in the classrooms and no longer on duty outside including the “Kiss and Drop” Lane.
• To ensure a seamless flow of traffic and to prevent congestion, please consider leaving your home 5-10 minutes earlier.
