Construction Update for Tiffany Hills Community

As many of you are aware, construction for the city playground will begin on Monday April 29th.  This playground will be located directly behind Tiffany Hills School.  You will have received a notice to your homes about this construction and I have attached the information to this post.  We are thrilled that our students and families will have another playground in the growing neighbourhood.  City Playground Construction Notification

During the construction phase (April 29th – July), we ask for all families to exercise caution as your children travel to and from school each day.  Traffic in our neighbourhood is already greatly congested, particularly at entry and dismissal times.  Please be aware that there will be added truck and utility traffic due to the park construction.  In addition to the truck traffic, there may be days on which the air quality due to dust will make it unsafe for our students to be outside at nutrition breaks.  Hopefully these days are few; however, I will make these decisions on a day-to-day basis, considering the weather, winds and amount of construction happening at that time. It is also important to know that while this park will be in very close proximity to our school, students will not be permitted to use the playground during school hours as it is not on school property.  I encourage you to make a plan with your child about when they will be permitted to use it.  Encouraging your children to return home directly after school before going to the park is a suggested practice.

Consider walking with your child to and from school rather than driving.  If you must drive, please do the following:

  • Park only in legal parking locations (Example:  along Raymond Rd, in a marked parking spot, along side streets)
  • Do NOT park in the round-abouts near the school (trucks, and other vehicles can not navigate the circle if cars are parked there)
  • Do NOT park close to entrances and exits to the school driveways.  There are signs clearly marking limits
  • Do NOT park in front of fire hydrants.
  • Follow all traffic signs and speed limits
  • Park on the straight side of streets only – not along or around corners
  • Drive slowly, cautiously and watch for children crossing the streets or getting into vehicles

I recognize that our school neighbourhood is busy with traffic; however, I am asking that all parents and caregivers work together to keep our students safe as they come and go from school each day.  If it is possible during these warmer temperatures, please consider walking to school or parking on another block and walking to pick up your child.

Thank you for working with us to keep our students safe.
