Incident Requiring Hamilton Fire Department Response Today

Dear Parents, Guardians and Caregivers,

As you may know, we had a visit by the Hamilton Fire Department today. I wanted to explain why.

At about 12:30 p.m. today, there was a report of a fire in one of the student washrooms.

As per the HWDSB Fire Safety Plan, we evacuated our school and called 911. The Hamilton Fire Department responded, put out the small fire and cleared the smoke from the school. They quickly gave us the approval to re-enter the school.

With the colder weather today, when we evacuated the school, we took the students to the arena while we waited for the fire department to let us know when it was safe to return to the school.

We wanted to bring it to your attention in case your child mentions it.

Thank you for your understanding,

Mr. Gord Carey
Principal
