Parking safety letter

Dear Parents/Guardians,

At École Michaëlle Jean the staff work together to ensure that every child is safe.  In order to make this happen we require parental support.

The school has communicated to the community our concerns regarding the crowding and the unsafe conditions of the parking lot at morning entrance and afternoon dismissal.  We need to work within our means, meaning that the parking lot cannot be altered at this point in time, and we have to make sure that our students are always safe. To this end we have been advised that we need to call By-Law Enforcement in order to create safer conditions for our students and to reduce the crowding.

I have spoken to School Council and to many parents regarding my concerns around the parking lot and ensuring student safety. As I have stated before, all of our students at Michaëlle Jean, have bussing privileges. I understand that the busses have been running late, however this is a province wide issue, not just a HWDSB or Michaëlle Jean issue.  I also understand that there are times when you may have appointments for your child and you have to pick them up from school.  I am asking that you please make decisions that put the safety of all of our students at the forefront.
