Vermicomposting in Grade 3!

Our grade 3 classes received a grant from TD Friends of the Environment Foundation to purchase vermicomposting systems for our classrooms! Part of the grade 3 science curriculum includes students investigating the process of composting and learning about the importance of soil. This past week, Cathy, from Cathy’s Crawly Composters, came to visit us to teach us more about the importance of composting and how our living vermicomposters work! We had an awesome time learning about what can and cannot go into our vermicomposters,  how to take care of them and set them up!  The vermicompost will also help fertilize our gardens at Earl Kitchener.
