Westview Fall 2024 Update
Hello Westview Families;
We hope everyone has had a smooth transition back to school. It is awesome to see students working hard and enjoying the school environment.
A few updates/reminders to share:
School Council Elections– All schools in Ontario are invited to form a School Council. Information was attached with the welcome letter – we will have paper copies of nomination forms available in the office should you wish to put forward your name to become a School Council Executive Member, or Voting Member.. The first meeting with election will be Wednesday, September 25th from 6 – 7pm. Thank you to all those who have already submitted forms.
Meet The Educator Night – We welcome our families to meet their educators on Thursday, October 3rd from 4-5:30 pm. We invite our families to meet their child’s educators and to see their classroom environment. This is not a time for interviews or to speak about your child’s progress, as there are many people present and a teacher needs to maintain confidentiality. An opportunity for discussion about your child’s progress will be given after the Progress Report is carried home on November 12th.
Cell Phones – are not permitted to be used in school unless directed by an educator. Phones are to be powered off and out of sight from 8:50 am to 3:10pm – violations will result in phones being kept in the office with the Principal.
As of Monday, most social media sites will be inaccessible to all students. For more information see the HWDSB home page.
Terry Fox Run – Our Terry Fox Run is on Friday October 11th. All donations are received through the Terry Fox Foundation. You can access the Terry Fox Rosedale Fundraiser page here https://schools.terryfox.ca/68701.
Events
September 15 – Indigo Love of Reading will raise money for Westview School at the Mapleview Mall location until October 6th.
September 19th – photo day
September 22 – First Day of Autumn
September 25th – PAC meeting 6 -7pm
September 30 – Orange Shirt Day / Wear Orange today– Indigenous observance
October 3rd – Meet your Child’s Educator from 4-5:30 p.m. at Westview Middle School
October 11th – Terry Fox Run – donate online
October 14 – Thanksgiving Holiday (no school today)
