Water testing results
November 3, 2021
Dear Families,
Recently, our school underwent water testing for lead, in accordance with the provincial regulations (O.Reg 243/07). As a result of this testing, an exceedance was identified within the school. Corrective actions have been taken to prevent lead exposure. This includes temporarily removing a drinking water fixture from service.
In addition to informing the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks, our Occupational Health and Safety Department has consulted with Hamilton Public Health Services to ensure appropriate corrective actions in the circumstance have been taken for the safety of your child. The drinking water fixture will not be returned to service until it is assessed/repaired, re-sampling takes place and the Board and Hamilton Public Health Services are both satisfied that the corrective actions in place have reduced lead levels below the limit in the Ontario Drinking Water Quality Standard (10 μg/L or 0.010 mg/L).
If you have any questions, please contact me at 905-388-1502. For further information on drinking water testing for lead at HWDSB please visit our web page:
