Brief Evacuation at Westview Elementary School Today

A natural gas odour was detected within the building. The fire alarm was activated, and staff assisted students to evacuate to a safe location outside and away from the school.

Hamilton Fire Department responded quickly and attended to the source of the odour. The fire department could not determine the source of the smell and deemed the school safe to re-enter. HWDSB’s Facility Management is aware of the incident and will continue to investigate the cause of the smell.
