Westmount Student Wins Vimy Award
Westmount Secondary student, Brendan Armstrong, was selected as one of 17 students (out of 300+ applicants from across the country) to win the Vimy Pilgrimage Award. This year European students were also chosen to accompany the Canadian students.
The Vimy Pilgrimage Award recognizes the actions of young people who demonstrate outstanding service, positive contributions, notable deeds, bravery or leadership. This award consists of a fully funded, week-long educational program in France and Belgium, to study Canada’s tremendous First World War effort.
Brendan was present for the 100th anniversary of the battle at Vimy Ridge, and not only has he been Facetiming with his grade 10 Canadian history class to share his experiences, but he reports that he is having the best time of his life. Well done, Brendan! Students wishing to apply for future Vimy Pilgrimage Awards can learn more online.
